NOTICE AND RECORD OF MEETINGS

Regular meetings of the Board shall normally be held on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Gatesville ISD Administration Building, 311 S. Lovers Lane, Gatesville, Texas. When determined necessary and for the convenience of Board members, the Board President may change the date, time, or location of a regular meeting with proper notice. Meeting notices are posted below.

District Goals

Gatesville ISD HB 3 Board Goals and Plan for 2025-2029 (approved 9/22/2025)
In accordance with HB3, school districts shall adopt plans that set specific annual goals for five years that address the closing the gap criteria via STAAR in early childhood literacy and mathematics proficiency and College, Career, Military Readiness.

In accordance with TEC 11.085 early childhood literacy and mathematics proficiency plans, the percentage of 3d Grade students that score meets grade level or above on or above grade level on STAAR Reading and Math will increase respectively from 59% and 56% in June 2025 to 71% and 68% in June 2029.

The percent of 3rd grade students that score meets grade level (not just approaches but actually meets) or above on STAAR Math will increase from 47% to 59% by June 2025.

In accordance with TEC 11.086 College, Career, Military Readiness, the percentage of graduates who meet CCMR criteria (as reported on our last TAPR 2023-2024) will increease from 84.9% to 92.4% in June 2029.

  1. Safety, Discipline, & Attendance: GISD will put students first and continue to improve its facilities and processes to keep students safe, while improving discipline and attendance procedures to reduce misbehavior and truancy.
  2. Literacy: GISD will strive to have every student reading and writing proficiently through the use of guided reading strategies, more writing activities in classrooms, and more one-on-one writing conferences between student and teacher.
  3. Curriculum, Technology, & Professional Development: GISD will follow an aligned curriculum, provide our teachers with quality professional development, and continue to invest in technology devices for our students in an effort to ensure that our students are becoming increasingly successful under the current accountability system.
  4. Finances & Facilities: GISD will operate under a balanced budget, spend taxpayer dollars wisely, and direct money toward the fund balance when possible, while ensuring that our school buildings remain in good working condition.
  5. People-Focused: GISD will provide social-emotional services for our students, offer a wide variety of courses such as Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes, and invest in our employees in order to improve retention.

School Board Election Information

The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot in a school district’s general election is the 30th day before the filing deadline. The filing deadline for a general election is 5 p.m. on the 78th day before election day. Tex. Educ. Code § 11.055(a); Tex. Elec. Code § 144.055.

The deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. on the 74th day before election day. (See Notice of Deadline to File Applications for detailed filing dates and times.)
